Should body oil be part of daily routine?
Your body is the largest organ you have — so why stop skincare at the neck? Here's why body oil is worth adding to your daily ritual, how to use it, and the nourishing oils we love most.
When we think of skincare, most of us think of our face. We tend to neglect the body because it stays hidden beneath clothing, yet as the largest organ we have, it deserves some extra love and care. Body oil is an easy, effective way to give it just that, while feeling like a luxurious treat. A good body oil can revive dry skin and give it the care it needs.
Benefits of using body oil
- Nourishes skin - For glowing skin, you want products that sink in and support its health from within. Body oils keep skin soft and smooth, and massaging oil into damp skin is known to boost circulation, giving a healthy glow.
- Excellent for dry skin - Anyone with dry skin knows the itch and tightness it brings. If your usual lotion isn't doing the trick, massage a little body oil into damp skin, it helps lock in moisture and prevent dryness.
- It's not sticky - Many people avoid oils thinking they're greasy. Choosing the right oil is key. Ours are light, smell divine, absorb quickly and offer deep hydration without a greasy residue.
- Absorbs quickly - When you step out of the shower, you want an oil that absorbs fast so you can get dressed and on with your day. Tip: apply to damp skin after bathing to seal in that extra moisture.
A simple body care routine
Start with a gentle body wash that cleanses thoroughly without stripping your skin's natural oils. With clean skin, you can reintroduce moisture: take a few drops of your favourite body oil and massage it gently into damp skin in circular motions. The warmth of your fingers helps the oil absorb beautifully.
Can body oil be used on all skin types?
A routine that works for someone else may not suit you, so choose a body oil based on your skin type. In general, body oils suit anyone looking for extra moisture, nourishment, or simply a moment to feel pampered.
Our take on body oil
There's something about body oil that feels like a luxurious act of self-care. It's worth weaving into your routine for the silky, smooth feel as much as the moisturising benefits. Personally, I've used body oil for years, dry skin led me to look for a better way to moisturise, and I've come to love both the me-time and the results.
Some of our favourite oils
- Sunflower oil - High in antioxidants, helping skin look fresh and supporting it against premature signs of ageing.
- Sesame oil - A natural cleanser that helps lift away excess sebum, dirt, dead skin and other impurities.
- Fractionated coconut oil - Hydrating and gentle, helping to soothe and soften the skin.
- Sweet almond oil - Rich in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and fatty acids that help keep skin cells healthy and leave skin soft, smooth and supple.
- Vitamin E oil - Moisturises to help prevent dryness, reduces flakiness, and helps soothe irritated skin.
